12 x 10 Tanalised and Pressure Treated Nordic Apex Shed 19mm

WORKSHOP SHED - STANDARD DESIGN with 2ft Log Canopy - Handmade - Fully Tanalised

Your Shed is Handmade by our skilled craftsmen and is built to the highest specifications and standards. The Nordic Shed Range is designed to last a lifetime and is a smart investment when choosing your next garden building.

Most garden buildings currently available are constructed and supplied using normal timbers and then treated with a weak, water based treatment (usually golden in colour) that requires further attention within months of installation. The Nordic Shed Range is constructed using fully tanalised, pressure treated timber that has guaranteed protection by our merchant against the fungal attacks that cause wood decay for a minimum of 15 years and require no further treatment.

In the past the price of a tanalised garden building has been much greater than its standard, water based rival. Due to our buying power and network within the timber industry we are now able to supply the Nordic Shed Range at the same price range and specification as standard untreated counterparts.

SUITABLE SHED BASE

Why build a base?
It is essential that all garden buildings are assembled on a firm and level base constructed from an appropriate and durable material. Without the correct base buildings may be very difficult to assemble and in many cases may be assembled incorrectly leading to future deterioration of the product such as doors dropping out of square and becoming difficult to open/close or water leakage. Assembling a garden building on an incorrect base is also likely to invalidate any guarantee that your product may carry.

Where to build a base
When deciding where to place your garden building, you need to take a few things into consideration.

Firstly, please remember not to place the base too close to any walls or fences as there may be a slight overhang on the roof of the garden building. Secondly, placing the base next to trees or large bushes could also cause problems from overhanging branches especially if these are likely to grow and come into contact with the building in the future. In this case, please cut these branches in advance. Once the garden building has been assembled, please check overhanging foliage regularly as any rubbing on the roofing felt may lead to your garden building becoming susceptible to rain and extreme weather conditions.

Furthermore, when deciding the optimum location for your base and garden building please consider access – for example access around each side of the garden building in order to apply wood treatments or preservative. Try to visualise what the garden building will look like in the position selected – you may not want to carry large or heavy objects right down to the end of your garden. You may also want to consider where the building is most likely to receive natural light or a have nice view, especially for buildings such summerhouses or log cabins. Finally, if you intend to fit an electricity or water supply to your garden building, you may need to consider where would be most appropriate to cater for this (i.e. Distance to mains electricity/water supply).

What Materials should we use to build the correct base

We highly recommend the following bases to support the weight of your shed and to help assist with its shelf life.

- Concrete Pad
- Concrete Posts
- Timber Framed Base
- Slabs

Please Note: Nordic do not assemble our buildings onto Eco Friendly Plastic Bases, from our experience we have found they are not strong enough to take the weight of our building and sadly do not prevent water ingress.

How to build a Base?
To construct a professional base we would recommend using a reputable local builder or handyman however if you feel comfortable with the task then it is relatively straightforward to construct your own base;

Please Note: It is strongly advised that you build your base either to the exact size of the shed  or made slightly larger than the dimensions of the garden building

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We ask upon purchasing goods from Nordic Timber Buildings that you have full knowledge and accept the following:

Information On The Process Of Tanalising
Your product has been manufactured in pressure treated softwood (Scandinavian Redwood). This process is often referred to as tanalising. Tanalising involves impregnation with Tanalith E (environmentally friendly) wood preservative under controlled conditions in a vacuum pressure timber impregnation plant. When impregnated into the timber the chemicals become fixed into the timber and cannot be removed. At times the treatment leaves a green residue on the surface which will normally wear off with use. This is a feature that occurs but is not considered a blemish, the residue is not harmful.

The treatment described above gives softwood the qualities of a long service life and long term protection from fungal and insect attack.

The Process of Tantalising and Pressure Treatment does not mean that your building will be water proof. Timber is a Natural Product and although we guarantee that your product is resistant from Rot, Fungus and Damp, we would highly recommend that you apply an oil based waterproofing treatment to make the timber watertight ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING FITTING ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES inside the structure. We are conscience during the construction and assembly of your structure that it is also important for us to help prevent water entering the building i.e. using 40kg roofing felt, silicon beading and facias although this doesn’t make the build water proof so again we reiterate whist yes expect the timber to be rot resistant but not water proof so we strongly recommend you invest in an waterproofing treatment.

HOW DO I ENSURE MY SHED IS KEPT TO STANDARD?
You have already made a wise choice when choosing to invest in a Tanalised pressure treated timber building but we also ask that you have a full understanding that timber is a natural product and can react to the elements and is subject to change in certain weather conditions. Insignificant knots, splits shrinkages can although very rarely occur we would recommend that you do not see this as a defect with the building but except that a level of maintenance should be maintained when purchasing a timber building.

DO I NEED TO TREAT MY SHED?
Whilst your shed is protected from rot and fugal attacks Nordic Timber Buildings highly recommended that immediately upon installation you consider treating your shed with an Oil Based Water Repellent internally and externally to preserve and extend the shelf life of your building.

ARE MY GOODS INSIDE THE BUILDING INSURED?
It is extremely important that you accept our Terms and Condition upon purchasing products from NordicTimber Buidings. As such, we state that we do not cover for any loss or damage to any goods inside the building under any circumstances. The garden building will be yours to use freely as you wish therefore you are fully responsible for what you put inside the building.
